The Pocono Mountains consists of a broad plateau 1,000 feet higher than the surrounding region. The lakes, wetlands and streams collect tremendous volumes of water that cascades down 600 to 800 feet as it gets in close proximity to the Delaware River. These "Fall Lines" are where many waterfalls are located.
